Startup Genome Partners With the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to Study State's Entrepreneurial Sector

Startup Genome and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation are partnering to study and support Indiana's entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem development. Under the terms of the agreement, both parties are working together to assess the current entrepreneurial climate for startups, early-stage enterprises and SMEs and examining additional ways to accelerate development in innovation and startup technology.

Using a combination of global datasets and survey data, Startup Genome is conducting an ecosystem analysis to determine Indiana's ecosystem stage of development, create benchmarks against peer and top global startup ecosystems, and examine the opportunities and gaps as well as strengths to be capitalized on.

Startup Genome is working closely with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to:

Conduct a founder-focused, scale-up assessment and diagnostic with founders and/or executives of growth-based businesses less than 10 years old.
Identify verticals of strength and latent potential in traditional and emerging industry sectors.
Undertake research on local entrepreneurial services organizations to develop an ecosystem network strategy, identifying international peers, partners and advisors to mobilize best practice sharing and broader support.
Startup Genome's Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER), the world's most comprehensive and widely read research on startups, will include notable Indiana startups in the next edition of the report.
Insights gleaned from the analysis will assist state, local and community leaders and stakeholders in uniting Indiana's statewide entrepreneurial resources to deliver more new business startups and business success.

With 100 clients across six continents in more than 40 countries to date, Startup Genome is the world-leading research and policy advisory organization for public and private agencies committed to accelerating the success of their startup ecosystem.

"Entrepreneurial ecosystems — the factors and actors supporting new businesses — are critical to our state's economic development tool belt," said Julie Heath, vice president of entrepreneurial ecosystems for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. "New businesses are leading indicators of GDP growth in communities across Indiana and account for the majority of net-job growth. For these reasons, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation has made supporting entrepreneurship a priority, and we're honored to partner with Startup Genome."

"Startup Genome is proud to be working with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to build a strong startup ecosystem on top of Indiana's strengths, so entrepreneurs and innovators can build a durable engine of job creation and economic growth for their people," shares JF Gauthier, founder and CEO of Startup Genome.
